First, of course, I must rec the gift I received! She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, pro hac vice. Matt Murdock needs Jen Walters's help on a special immigration case. There is excellent flirty banter, hilarious fourth-wall-breaking in the best spirit of the show, fabulous legal teamwork from Jen and Nikki, some AWESOME cameos from elsewhere in the MCU, and wonderfully sincere emotion.

First, I must recommend the PHENOMENAL gift that I received! KJ Charles’s England series, A Country Mile. Brilliantly written casefic, in which Pat and Fen get called out to another country house to solve another mystery. It’s Fen’s POV, full of beautiful insight about the ways she’s grown thanks to her experiences in the book, and about her deep emotional intelligence.

Yuletide 2019 recs!

I got TWO gifts this year!

Seafoam Green, Bright Sessions. Caleb and Adam meet again after they’ve both graduated from college, and they’ve still got the same chemistry. It’s from Caleb’s POV, and it’s sweet and adorable and awkward in all of the best ways that the Caleb/Adam relationship always is, plus some lovely imagery describing Caleb’s empathy. When Adam’s emotions are green, everything is going to be okay.

Magic in the Air, Benjamin January Mysteries. It’s a Harry Potter AU! Crossovers are some of my favorite things in Yuletide, especially the ones that add magic to non-magical settings. This is exactly the kind of re-imagined setting that I love! The Januarys are hosting a Christmas party in 1967…which means that the first war with Voldemort is on the horizon, and everyone is holding on tight to the happiness that they’ve found together.

Yuletide Recs, Part 1

Happy Yuletide!

First, I have to start by recommending the gift I received! The Late-Night Time Travelers' Philosophy Club,Timeless. It's an amazingly layered and fun casefic that shows off the very best of the original: each character gets to shine, each friendship gets its moment of the spotlight, and everyone continues grappling with the morality of time travel. What can we change? What should we change? What price are we willing to pay?
